my stepdad disputes this list he says the TOP line is the: esc F1 F2 line, however i believe that the word "symbols" in the title of the list indicates which line they are referring to.
Can anyone clarify this? Because I looked up Standard Australian Qwerty Keyboards on google and the top line IS the F! F2 etc.
???I am Confused???

You googled it? couldn't you just have looked at the top line of your keyboard? Nah im just joking, yeah its true the top line is the esc line. However i missed the show so im not sure how specific andrew was in his definition of this list. As long as he gave a clear explanation it would be considered okay.

FYI: I can't look at my keyboard because i am legally blind, I feel where the keys I use are.
I know wich line they meant, the one with the numbers and symbols but my stepdad says that isn't the top line because the F! F2 keys are above it.
It's caused a huge arguement in my house

I did feel for the top line but I don't think you quite get what I am saying. the disagreement is: how is it that on the show they called the numbers and symbols line the top when the esc F1 F2 row is obviously above it? I mean is the answer to this in the wording of the list title?

F1 And F2 are not Symbols and if they meant the very top line of 'MOST' Keyboards they would include ESC F1 to F12. I recall that some keyboards had the F's elsewhere.

A QWERTY keyboard originally refered to a typewriter keyboard - Yes there was civilisation pre-PCs - and most typewriters (or at least the earlier ones) don't have the function keys.

A QWERTY keyboard is the keyboard belonging to a MANUAL typewriter - yes, there are people like myself out here that originally LEARNT to type on a manual keyboard. The dollar sign is located above the number 4 on later model electric typewriters and computers. Brains trust - make sure you do your homework properly before submitting these questions.
