At Fox River a massive black inmate named Banks orders Bellick to bring him his dessert at the next mealtime. T-Bag tells Mrs. Hollander that he wants to start over. Terrified, she agrees, but we see that she has a handgun in a table drawer. In the van Kim calls Kellerman. He blames Mahone's shooting on Lincoln. Kim informs him that Mahone's still alive, which takes Kellerman by surprise. Kellerman says the brothers are dead, and he's on his way to bury them. Kim insists on visual confirmation, and Kellerman says he'll take a picture. When he hangs up Michael warns, "You leave that on, they'll trace it." Kellerman shoots back that it’s a Secret Service phone, and untraceable.
Mahone comes to in the hospital, and is greeted with a phone call from Kim. He’s informed that the brothers may be dead, but Kellerman's alive. Kim wants Mahone to tie up that loose end. Mahone informs Kim that Kellerman was the one who shot him, and bets that the brothers are with him. Mahone refuses to go back to work. Agent Blondie threatens Mahone, saying the company will go public with the Shales story. Mahone doesn’t care. He says he’ll tell the press, and is willing to do the time for killing a predator. Bellick brings his desert to Banks who demands Bellick bring them five desserts at every meal for him and his boys… or else. Bellick beats Banks with a weighted sock he had hidden in his back pocket, and walks away. The Hollander children arrive home, and are thrilled to see their “Uncle Teddy”. It’s one big happy family. Kellerman’s plane lands in Montana. Kim is informed about it, and orders his people to move Steadman. They step outside where they're greeted by the screeching tires of Kellerman’s van. Kellerman disarms the agents, and Lincoln grabs Steadman. As they're about to take off Kim orders one of his agents to kill everyone; including Steadman. Kellerman shoots him first and kills all the others. Callie calls Mahone. Their little boy was involved in a hit-and-run, and is in surgery. Against medical advice Mahone rushes from the hospital. He’s intercepted by Agent Blondie, who asks, "How's your boy?"
Kellerman, Steadman, and the brothers are holed up in a hotel. Kellerman explains how they erased Steadman’s identity: altering his medical and dental records, burning off his fingerprints, and giving him some plastic surgery. Steadman exists no more. No one can prove it’s even him. He’s a John Doe. Kellerman's plan is to get Steadman back to DC, and contact agents on the "inside" who can get him to safely tell his story, “on the record." Mrs. Hollander goes for her gun, but it's gone. T-Bag's found it. He snaps because she’s turned against him. Her son Zach grabs a skateboard, and wallops T-Bag. He grabs his sister and runs for the door, but T-Bag manages to stop them before they can get out. Bellick's working out in his cell when Guard Stolte warns him that Banks has connections with the guards on the night shift. They're going to pull Bellick out of his cell tonight. We see fear in Bellick’s eyes. As Kellerman goes over his plan, Steadman complains about his life. Lincoln's had enough. He slams him against a wall, and pulls his gun. Michael manages to talk him down.
C-Note gets the bad news that Kacee was denied bail. He offers to turn himself in, but is told Kacee's already shot down that idea. It would mean both of them in jail, and foster care for Dede. T-Bag boards up the house so they can be together, always: "Make no mistake about it, we will be a family, if it kills us." Michael calls the local news station but Kellerman pulls his gun to stop him. Michael ignores him, and gives his name and location. As night falls the cons taunt Bellick, and he begins to really sweat. Suddenly his cell door slides open. Mahone calls Kim, and tells him he's getting back to work. Kim says, "So I take it you got my message?" "Loud and clear," replies Mahone. As he signs off, Mahone opens his trunk to reveal the very dead Agent Blondie with a bullet hole in his head. Steadman begs the brothers to let him go. When that doesn't work he grabs Lincoln's gun. Michael tries to talk him down, but Steadman decides on another way out. He puts the gun to his head, and pulls the trigger. Michael cries out in despair. He knows the evidence that could finally end their running has died with him. The wail of closing police sirens motivates Kellerman to get them moving. "We got Steadman," Lincoln says. "No, we have nothing," corrects Kellerman. Michael adds, "All we got is a John Doe."
