As the Commissioner, it's his job to keep the audience in line. It's up to him to inspect their bingo cards and see if there are any winners lurking in the stands. "My role is to police the bingo player's cards. Some of them can be a shifty lot. But they won't get past my eagle-like surveillance!"
The Commissioner was born in a small town in south-eastern Sweden many, many years ago. He is a fourth generation Indian - his great, great grandfather migrated to Sweden from India. "I feel like I'm making my homeland of Sweden very proud," he says. "First there was IKEA, now they have me - the Bingo Commissioner!"
His father was a cricket umpire. The Commissioner wanted to follow in his father's footsteps until one night he was visited by an apparition of an elderly man with a long, grey beard. The ghost identified himself as Guru Tombolah and revealed that the Commissioner was the "Chosen One".
The Commissioner was told that Bingo was his destiny. It was his duty to spread the game throughout the world.
Suddenly, the Commissioner found purpose in his life and pursued Bingo refereeing with great gusto. He gained admission to the prestigious Uppsala Bingo College where he scored first class honours.
The Commissioner rose through the ranks of Sweden's competitive Bingo community before traveling all over the world. He ran everything from Bingo halls in Las Vegas to refereeing high roller Bingo tournaments in Monaco before settling in Australia.
The Commissioner continues to be a powerful presence in Australia's Bingo community, touring nursing homes and RSL clubs all over the country. The character of the Bingo Commissioner is played by comedian Tanveer Ahmed.
