Lucas wants to be known as an artist whether it be creating characters for the lens of a fashion photographer, painting or on the stage and screen as an actor.
Born and bred in country Victoria, mostly around the Yarra Valley, Lucas has lived in Melbourne for the past two years.
As a teenager he represented Victoria as a swimmer – backstroke was his specialty. He believes the four-hour daily slogs up and down the black line of a training pool are proof of his focus and discipline.
Lucas says he's always been involved with local theatre companies and believes his enthusiasm for acting puts him in good stead as a model.
"An actor must be really adaptable," he says. "You also have to understand the old saying ‘hurry up and wait'. There's a lot of down time but you must be able to perform straight away when you're needed."
When it comes to Make Me a Supermodel, Lucas says no hurdle will be too high for him to clear.
"Rats, snakes, scorpions, bring it on," he says. "I'll stand out on the street naked; I want to win this thing."
This waiter's ultimate modelling gig would be on the cover of fashion titles such as Oyster and GQ.
In his spare time, Lucas loves dinner parties rather than clubbing – although admits he's a terrible cook – and reading scripts. He also has a passion for photography.
"Many of the top photographers have experience as models, so if I make it as a model it will put me in good stead," he says.
On the show, Lucas wants to be seen as genuine, laid-back and as someone who's trying really hard to do their best.
"I may not have the best assets, best body or look or whatever, but I've got a lot of determination that people will see," he says.
