This week, "Hollywood" made headlines and earned the wrath of every member of Model Mansion... bar Courtney (naturally)!
Just when the harmonious bliss became intensely nauseating, along came a scandal to spice things up. Is it wrong that this entertains me? Ahh, who cares!
So here's the drill. This week, Billy Hollywood earned his nickname by making headlines for himself ... by dishing the dirt and dogging the hell outta his fellow models - at least, according to them. He has a different take on matters.
Billy did an interview with a magazine, the models got their mitts on it and voila – all hell broke loose. Guess that's what happens when you talk about others and they get the chance to read – in print – what you told a whopping big public! Especially when the theme of the article is who's hooking up with who in the house and who – according to Billy – likes who. And ESPECIALLY when some of those "who's" have respective partners who may have just read the article and may have not enjoyed what they were perusing. And ESPECIALLY when this very same lad wasn't too happy about getting his fledging relationship with Courtney exposed not too long ago at all.
I'll let Billy pick up the story. "Everyone went beserk at me, like I was out deliberately sabotaging people," he laments. "I accidentally opened up too much to a journo – that's it. I would definitely never do that again, I will keep my mouth shut from now on. I never intentionally wanted to sabotage anyone. If I wanted to, I could have done a better job than that!"
Hmm, kinda an explanation... I guess? That's the drill he gave the models too and turns out they weren't too overjoyed about his line of defence either. "I think I had had trouble getting my head around what happened with Billy and the article," admits Shanina. "I felt disappointed. I just lost trust in him."
Shanina was upset because Billy cast lust-drenched aspirations on her friendship with Tom. For the record - both she and Tom have up and down denied there is anything romantic between them. "Now we can't even sit next to each other without people thinking there is something going on. We can't muck around, we can't spend time together. And the funny thing is, Tom is always talking to me about his girlfriend and how much he misses her. Nothing is happening and it's all been blown out of proportion."
"I was pretty angry, to be honest," says Tom blunty. "It didn't surprise me - I kinda knew he was like that. But it's disappointing it was on that level. It wasn't surprising that he did it, but it just makes me wonder what else he has said that we'll eventually find out about."
The other people named in the article – Hannah and Rhys – were equally unimpressed. "The whole article let a few of us down," says a clearly upset Hannah. "He was laughing it off at first, but as much as he might want it to be a laughing matter, it wasn't.
"I was taking his apologies seriously, but he has always got a sob story and it all becomes a bit of a blur. He always tries to brush things off and everyone in the house is really pissed off. I chose to take his apology seriously but I will never forget what he did."
Rhys is also angry about what happened. "Right back at the beginning of the show, there was a rumour about me and Hannah being close. That sucked for both of us and when the rumours started, we literally stopped hanging around each other completely. It all died down. I was disappointed, but I can understand how it happened. He wanted to impress a journalist and make them ring him again and want to do more press. But he went too far and it got too personal. He has to be a bit more careful."
Rhys goes on to explain to me that he eventually had to call his girlfriend on his single, prized phonecall and gently let her know there was an article coming out that she might be upset about. "It was almost stupid, because we trust each other so much, and it was so s**t to call her under these circumstances, but I felt compelled to let her know. I was disappointed with Billy, but I am sick of reacting."
Billy, however, has a different version of events. "It was just an accident. That's just the way things go," he claims. "Yes, people gave me flak about a newspaper article I did - people are so emotional and sometimes wires get crossed. I tend to relax and I hate the high tension – it's kinda catch 22."
He reckons there's one big prob in the house – and that's the clash he has with Sara. "Some of the girls don't compromise well and play the ‘big, mean, scary boy' angle," he begins. "The judges gave me heaps about the article and so did Sara. People don't see how lying and evil she is. I never treat anyone with disrespect – I got slammed and cornered by everyone."
So, should I take it that by ‘some of the girls', he's actually talking about Sara? Billy opens up and admits the two have not exactly warmed to one another lately. "Sara said I was calling her names and I have never ever done that. The only time I have yelled is when she was downstairs, honking the horn and screaming at us to hurry up, when we were working inside. She calls a house meeting when we want to watch a different movie! Shanina is a wonderful girl but she falls into the trap of it too – she gets dragged in. Sara is very analytical."
You can decide for yourself whether this was a harmless mistake or something else... but as much as he might like to claim it wasn't intentional, it's apparent the other models aren't buying Billy's excuse. "Knowing that he went and did that is just really hurtful," says Tom. "He made himself sound like a Casanova and the rest of us sound like lustful deviates. That really upset me and I hope people understand that's not how we are – and everyone's true colours shine out."
