Ask Me More Questions About Time Travel

Hey there awesome ascenders of apexes, and what a stunner of an e! Plenty of questions answered, some interesting tid-bits dropped and the most amazing conversation between Hurley and Miles (Miles was right, Hurley wrong... expect about the memory thing, maybe). The second I saw Hurley staring at his hand I knew they were about to get all Back to the Future on us (I'd like to see a 1.21 giga-watt reading somewhere in the Orchid) but as Miles explained, that's not what is going on here. There's no rewriting of the past; the past already happened, they just don't remember it. How I wish we'd gotten more of their discussion.

Never mind - this episode had a bit for absolutely everybody; some mythology, plenty of emotion, but I'm about to say something I never thought I'd say... I actually enjoyed a Kate episode. Her usual trail of destruction was left behind but for the first time she turned around, saw what she wrought and set out to repent. As such, let's take a look at...

The Top Five Kate Moments From The Only Kate Ep I've Ever Liked

5. We were right! In what was one of the most widely guessed and deeply satisfying theories, we learnt that Sawyer did indeed ask Kate to look in on his daughter Clementine. I thought it was a little odd that Kate had neither "hey, we used to know each other!" or "I used to run cons with your ex" conversations, but I'll let it slide. Cassidy is still fuelled by bitterness towards Sawyer, something she tries to rope Kate in on, but I'm coming to our rogue's defence here. If you watch the scene when Sawyer dived from the helicopter again, Sawyer doesn't make the decision looking at Kate, he makes the decision as he locks eyes with Hurley when Frank screams he'd be a lot happier if they were 400-pound lighter. Sorry to point out the harsh truth but that was one hell of a heroic gesture, and not just towards Kate.

4. Kate and Jack trade zings! Kate, as usual, isn't listening to anyone's sound advice but new Chill Jack isn't going to let that get to him. Chill Jack is driving Kate crazy, probably because he won't do what she tells him to anymore.

Kate: "I don't like the new Jack."

Jack: "Well Kate, you didn't like the old me very much either."

I'm not ashamed to admit I snapped my fingers and hollered "mmmmmhmmmmmm, girlfriend" loudly.

3. A fake Aussie took my baby! While I like that Carole Littleton has stood in for Claire this season, dear God her accent is bad. Nonetheless, after seeing a woman who looked way, way, way too much like Claire, Kate went to Aaron's grandmother and spilled the beans on how she had taken Aaron because she needed him. I've got to give Kate her credit here; she bit the bullet, took her licks and knew she deserved every moment of pain she endured. We also now know her purpose for coming back to the island. Turns out we fans aren't the only ones wondering where on earth Claire got to!

2. Kate and the Janitor, sitting in a tree! In complete defiance of schoolyard logic – when you're new, try and date the most popular, good-looking boy – Kate has a new buddy in deadbeat dad Roger Linus. Could the guy be any slimier? He scoped her out head to toe twice in the first ten seconds of meeting her. Yuck. Yeah, sure, you can try and tell me she wasn't flirting, but the Kate charm was up to eleven and Roger was lapping it up. I'm surprised he didn't call her Freckles. Sawyer must've really helped Kate get over the whole "bad boys remind me of my step, no, real-daddy I blew up." Please, don't let this go any further.

1. Kate made the call to send Ben to the dark side! Despite both Sayid and Jack deciding to do their all to finally be rid of Benjamin Linus once and for all, Kate made a deal with the devil and made the call to let Richard take Ben to "lose his innocence" at the Temple. Never have I wanted to know what a phrase meant more than this, if only to rule stuff out. Whatever went on inside the Temple changed Ben and created the hardened, manipulative trickster. Whether he remembers their involvement or not, these events placed Sayid, Kate, Sawyer, Juliet and Jack as central figures in his life.

PS: Did anyone else think that they guy who asks Richard about Ellie and Charles looked like he could be a young Tom? I sure did, and I sure hope it is!
