- 2008 marks the 50th Annual edition of the Logie Awards.


- Bert Newton has hosted the awards a record 18 times.


- Dame Edna has appeared as a guest presenter more times than anyone else, doing it five times.


- Andrew Daddo became the youngest ever host of the awards in 1995 at the age of 28.


- Only one woman, Wendy Harmer in 2002, has hosted the awards.


- The Logie Awards were by Graham Kennedy in honour of John Logie Baird, a Scottish inventor who is credited with creating the world's first working television system.


- The awards have been held primarily in Melbourne since their beginning. The last ceremony held in Sydney was at the State Theatre in 1986.


- Previously, awards were handed out on a state by state basis but now all awards are nation-wide.


- Fan voting became even more popular in 2006 when SMS was added as a voting option.


- The first Logie Awards in 1959 did not have a ceremony and awards were given in only eight categories, including two for American programs.


- Multiple people have won the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television several times but the most wins goes to Graham Kennedy with 6.


- The Logie Hall of Fame began in 1984 with the induction of Hector Crawford. Over the years three programs have been inducted along with 21 personalities, including Steve Irwin in 2007.


- "Home and Away" has received 27 Logies during its 20 year run, second only to "A Country Practice" with 30.
