Superhuman strength (also known as super or enhanced strength) is the ability to be stronger than normally possible, given your physical proportions. Niki Sanders' alter-ego, Jessica, is able to throw people metres across the room, strike with incredible power and certain scenes suggest she has the strength to literally tear a human body apart. All this from a woman of seemingly average height and weight.

Characters with enhanced strength have been found in many mythologies and religions, suggesting that the desire to be stronger than anyone else has been a fantasy of humans since ancient times. Jessica's incredible strength fits in with her desire to protect Niki and her (their) son.

Most comic book characters usually have a degree of super strength. That level of strength can vary greatly from just outside the 'normal' human range to nearly unlimited. Various explanations as to the source of superhuman strength are given, ranging from enlarged physical stature through to magical powers and even telekinetic fields (the ability to move objects with the mind).

Jessica's strength is unexplained as of yet. Perhaps her DNA switches to a sequence similar to the one that allows another type of animal, the ant, to carry ten times its own body weight.
