Episode 5 - Hiros

Future Hiro delivers a message to Peter that he has to visit Isaac and save the cheerleader in order to save the world. Nathan gets kidnapped by Claire's father and The Haitian, only to escape by flying off into the air with a sonic boom.

Hiro witnesses Nathan's landing, and they share a few moments of utter hilarity. Claire tells her father what happened with Jock the Quarterback, and he orders The Haitian to erase the kid's memory so he'll forget his lust for attacking girls.

Matt uses his mad thought-reading skills to predict every possible thing that his wife could want. Unfortunately, when he goes to get ice cream at the convenience store, he overhears the thoughts of a guy about to hold the place up. He freaks the thug out by reading his mind and prevents the crime, but then totally mucks it all up by picking up the gun and letting his mind be overrun by everyone's thoughts.

Niki has no recollection of her bedroom rendevous with Nathan, but she apologises anyway and swears she just wants to be a good person. She heads home, only to discover that her no-good husband could be on his way to visit her. She still thinks that it's him that's doing all the bad stuff that ikiN (her alter-ego) is doing, so the idea of him coming by for pot roast doesn't thrill her. He eventually shows up, even with all the cop cars outside, and it would seem that he has a little heroic ability of his own. That might include being able to walk through walls.

Peter visits Isaac and realizes that he can siphon off Isaac's prognosticating ability without all the messy heroin getting in the way. He completes a painting while his eyes are filmed over, and in it, Claire appears to be dead. Hiro calls while he's there, and Peter delivers a message that Future Hiro ordered him to back in the past. Or future.

This is such a brilliant show. So much to get your teeth into. For that reason it would be good if the review wasn't simply a restatement of the events that happened. Get some theories out there!! Notice it is Tuesday now and there are 5 comments for this episode. At the 9th Wonder's web site (unofficial fan site) there are 1,823 comments for this episode alone.

Notice how well future Hiro spoke English. Vitrually no accent. Present day Hiro can't speak English at all and he is about 21 or so. For someone that age to loose their accent they have to either study a language very intensively or study a language for a very long time. Suggesting he comes from a very long way into the future....

In episode 2 wasn't it, when he went into the future and saw the massive explosion. That occurred in 5 weeks time. Not enough time for even a professional linguist to loose their accent from scratch let alone an office worker with no language training. Therefore future Hiro came from much much further into the future and was referring to another disaster even bigger than a nuclear explosion in New York.
