Would you forgive someone for treading on your territory and taking what was rightfully yours? Could you forgive someone you truley loved for breaking your heart and destroying your trust? Dr Torres told George she could forgive him. But when push came to shove and she was forced to search a little deeper, she realised she would not be able to trust George again and forgive him totally, for she would always remember what he did to her.
In 'Heart of the Matter' Dr Torres tells Izzie, “Cafeteria. Noon. You, me. Be there.” This makes Izzie fear she's going to get beaten up and all the other doctors excited there's going to be a showdown! Bets are placed, Torres Vs Stephens - Whose will win? Then Dr Torres walks in to the lunchroom and sees the commotion and hears Izzie saying in front of the onlookers... "I'm a street fighter, a badarse. I can take a girl down!" Humiliated Dr Torres turns the other way, saying all she wanted to do was talk.
Later, Izzie tries to apologize and Dr. Torres loses it, telling her "You did this to me. You did this to another woman. You stole something from me. Don't you dare come to me for forgiveness you traitorous bitch." Strong words from a woman who has nothing but strength to cling to.
Do you think we can really forgive, truley forgive someone for hurting us, betraying our trust? Is it practical? Or are we more capable of revenge? To hurt someone for the pain we suffered? An eye for an eye!
Can we forgive and forget?
