Duncan Freeman is a talented investigator with a clear sense of right and wrong. He has an often fiery temper which can get him into trouble with his superiors. He's not afraid to stand up for what's right and if he thinks someone's making a bad call, he'll tell them, regardless of rank.

Duncan never accepts things at face value. You could even say he's cynical. He often doubts suspects' stories and keeps pressing away until he gets the truth. He doesn't always follow procedure, but he almost always gets the right result. Duncan's especially good at turning the tables on suspects and calling them on their lies.

A very private person, Duncan has a tough, even brash, exterior and even his closest friends - his fellow detectives - know very little about his personal life. He's a very loyal and protective colleague and will always have his co-workers' backs.

Following the death of his fiancee Claire in Series One, Series Two sees Duncan concentrate on his career. He cracks difficult cases with relish and faces new challenges and opportunities. He even has the chance to meet someone new, not that he'd ever let on to Matt, Jennifer or Simon.
