Detective Senior Constable Simon Joyner is something of an enigma, and not at all what you expect at first glance. Boyishly handsome and always a hit with the ladies, Simon's quick with the one-liners, and keen for a laugh.

There's a serious side to Simon that isn't immediately apparent. He often surprises his work mates with his knowledgeable historical and literary references. He's a massive reader of true-crime and historical texts, and takes an interest in pathology, often impressing the Crime Scene experts with his knowledge. 

Even though Simon projects a 'go with the flow' persona, he is fiercely loyal, protective and competitive. He may not show it, or even realise it himself, but he'll go to the edge for his crew. Simon's very self critical, and has a tendency to blame or beat himself down when or if things unravel.

Simon's recently had a rough road to travel. After staring down the barrel of a gun at the end of Series One, he began to weigh up his options - to leave the force or not? Convinced to stay by his teammates, Simon gives himself the chance to prove himself in Series Two, stepping up to the plate with fresh ambition and drive.
