Doctor Steve Taylor is in his mid- 30s. Born in Mudgee, Steve is from the same part of the world as Gabrielle. After a rocky start in a family that was falling apart due to his father's alcoholism, Steve found his calling in medicine. He and Gabrielle were a couple at Uni until he blew it by sleeping with her best friend.

Dr Frank Campion is the Head of the Emergency Department. He's a driven, committed perfectionist who demands nothing but the best from his staff. He's a brilliant man and a highly skilled doctor who possesses boundless energy, enormous intelligence and a scathing wit.

Bart is a young intern starting his first gig after graduating with honours from Med school. Bart has enjoyed a privileged life of private schools, a nice home in the best suburb, and he has never really had to struggle for anything.

Zoe Gallagher is in her early 30's, attractive, intelligent, compassionate and strong. She worked hard to get through her medical degree, she's not a natural academic, but her desire and strength of character saw her graduate with top results and the world at her feet.

Jack is a young intern. A go-getter, personable and extremely gifted, he won a scholarship to medical school, cruised through, and is currently nailing all the rotations in his internship.

Medicine has been Charlotte's passion since she was a teenager. She was inspired to become a doctor after a teacher at school encouraged her to move beyond her family's low expectations and do something with her life.

In her late twenties, Gabrielle is gutsy, sexy, intelligent and, seemingly, not intimidated by anyone or anything. Gabrielle grew up the older sister to three brothers in a small country town. She loves being a country girl and she wears it on her sleeve, and in her vernacular, often using classic, and bizarre, Australian colloquialisms.

Erica is in her early to mid 20's - a nurse with limited experience and unlimited enthusiasm. She wanted to be a doctor when she was younger but a shortfall in HSC marks led her to nursing instead.

Dan has a sunny, positive disposition - a smile for everyone, and a good attitude to work. He loves the blood, gore and adrenaline rush he gets in the Emergency Department.

Von spent years caring for her sick mother and ‘missed the boat' in studying to become a nurse so settled for becoming an Enrolled Nurse instead. She has worked in every department and ward in several hospitals across Sydney.
