Episode 428 - The Hand You're Dealt

Cody is delivered to the ED after being hit by a car, and what appears to be a fairly straight forward case becomes a medical mystery with the patient declaring his long list of bad luck is the result of a curse. Bart becomes determined to find the real reason behind the string of bizarre events.

While trying to unearth the source of Cody's mysterious run of bad luck, Bart can't help but briefly wonder if his life is touched by the same dark angel.

Meanwhile, Charlotte's day has started off badly, Zac's still unwell and she's had to call in Rhiannon for the first time to look after him for the day. Charlotte can feel the weight of the world starting to lift off her shoulders but we're left wondering if all is as it seems.

Meanwhile, in the ED, Ashleigh, a mother who is completely exhausted by caring for her young son who has recently been diagnosed with autism, is admitted after a collapse.

When Ashleigh's husband, Theo, arrives in the ED, it's obvious to all that he's not the supportive partner she most needs. But Frank can see something else going on for the man, and once he's sure about his suspicions, struggles to know whether disclosure will make things better or worse.

Gabrielle finds herself stretched to the limit when an Agency Nurse fails to show and in her dealing with Sebastian, an optimistic, corporate life coach with an appetite for dangerous sexual practices.

Thank you to the writers of All Saints for making Asperger's Syndrome one of the storylines. My 11 year old son is an 'Aspie' and it would make his life easier if more people were aware of the condition. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of this particular form of Autism.

Tony Attwood's "Aspergers Syndrome" book, says that sometimes adults are diagnosed after a younger family member's diagnosis - which fits with the plot tonight. So well done to the writers of All Saints for writing a very fesible storyline.

I've also got AS, and its only been the last few years that the condition has been talked about on the radio, etc. Once I understood my diagnosis (at age 14 - I'm now 25), I felt that the jigsaw pieces were put together. Having close friends that understand the condition definately helps too!

What a fantastic episode with Aspergers. It was very true to life. My son has AS and understands his problem to the extent that he can cope but please why wasn't it advertised in the program listing that it was on AS. We didn't record this episode so he cannot watch it. Please put it on again.

That was my BIL playing the man with AS! He's not on the spectrum himself but his niece (my daughter) does and his nephew (my son) has autism, so he has had some close insight into the topic. This ep made me think more about how to approach my sister about the fact that I'm sure she has AS.

Thank you on behalf of my late husband. He was a mirror image of the gentleman portrayed. He died before he could be officially diagnosed with Asperger's. I am aware of family reactions. People don't understand, don't want to know. He committed suicide by self-medication abused for many years. Betty
