AGT – Episode 6

Auditions roll on

Well into the third week of auditions, the talent tree is still ripe for the picking as Australians from all walks of life take their skills to the stage.

Tassie talent

Contestants from The Apple Isle make a strong showing tonight, the first of whom leaves Kyle blushing like a Red Delicious when his performance of Tom Jones’ “Sex Bomb” ends with a striptease. The apprentice plumber’s legs impress Brian, and Dannii seems happy, so there’s a chance we’ll see more of him later in the competition. The only question is how much more…

An energetic performance from the Taiko Drum drumming group also impresses. Kyle discovers that this combination of percussion and movement is harder than it looks when the judges are summoned to the stage to make their own kind of racket. The tempo remains upbeat with an act by Afrikan Warriors, a limber trio from Launceston who lunge and leap in a lively acrobatic display.

Blaring buzzers

Sadly it’s not all smiles and success as an array of acts face the harsh sounds of the buzzers. A belly dancer can’t jiggle his way to the semi-finals, a country singer hits the wrong notes, and performance artist Teana Teapot’s mix of Gaga and tap moves leaves everyone a little bit confused.

Twins who call themselves Outrageous Entertainment stir up some unexpected outrage when their display of circus skills, theatrics, and lights fails to gain any traction. They do get the audience hollering, but it’s not exactly the kind of reception they were after.

With his acoustic stylings tempered by tonsillitis, electrician Brett Morris provides the judges with their toughest decision of the night. They can see something in him, but is it enough to propel him into the next round?

Bodies, beats, and bubbles

Following in the footsteps of other ambitious dance crews is SKB, or Street Kulture Breakers, who are hopeful their ten years together lends them an advantage. Busting a different set of moves is Meriden Rhythmix. Melding rhythmic gymnastics, glitter, and a haul of Commonwealth gold medals, this dance troupe is looking for an Australia’s Got Talent podium finish.

Performing vocal gymnastics is Timomatic, who has recruited his friends to provide back-up for his song and dance medley. Can he take Bieber and make it better? Believe it.

Bringing a touch of magic to proceedings is bubbleologist Dr. Froth, whose aim is to show the audience what is “possi-bubble” when blowing bubbles. Not only is he full of puns, he is also full of talent. Fans will be hoping his bubble doesn’t burst any time soon.
