The MRU is called out to an illegal suburban brothel where they discover a number of Asian women living and working in wretchedly miserable conditions. A Federal Policeman, Ken, alerts them to the poor condition of Mimi, one of the women, but is ready to take the others to a detention centre. Mike and Steve, appalled by the conditions, insist on thorough checks before they are taken anywhere. Only one woman, Mary, can speak English, and Jo gains her trust, using her to interpret their intentions. The women are all in bad condition, but Mimi has been recently beaten and Steve and Mike suspect internal bleeding. As Mimi is taken to the ED by ambulance, Mike and Steve decide that they will take all the women into the ED, determined to help these women somehow.

In the ED, Frank and Mike are at odds over the wisdom of bringing all the women in. Mimi, under Charlotte’s care, is deteriorating, but without an interpreter there is no way of explaining the operation to her.

Once in the hospital the examinations reveal tragic stories for these women. Jo, desperate to help in some way, returns to the brothel to search for a prized necklace. Before she can leave, she is set upon by Albert, the owner of the brothel. He knocks her unconscious, and it comes down to Steve and Adam to try and save her.

Meanwhile Bart, new intern Elliott in his care, deals with a suicidal woman, Kyra, who has outlandish delusions, something which is causing deep distress to her husband Paul. Despite his earlier reservations, Bart feels that Elliott has actually done a good job, something he passes on to Frank. But Amy is not so easily won over. Learning that Elliott is seeing Bree, she tries to warn Bree against him, something which causes a rift between the two women. And when Bart learns that Elliott tried to kiss Amy, all his recent good thoughts about the intern go out the window

This episode misrepresents the English speaking knowledge and skills of Filipinos. English is the medium of instruction in the Philippines from Kindergarten. The Philippines is one of the top 5 largest populations in the world that speaks English. As a Filipino who lived in Australia for 13 years with postgrad qualifications, it is an insult to see Filipinas represented as ignorant of the Engilsh language. If you had done your research, you will know that this is a very unfair, unrealistic ...
