With Steve out of action, Adam joins the MRU to help rescue two men who have fallen into a disused mine. Adam’s in awe as Jo and Mike abseil into the mine but he soon joins them to play an important role in completing life saving surgery underground.

Back in the ED, the team’s fighting a losing battle to save the other man’s life. A chance discovery reveals what’s really wrong with the man and the trail of betrayal which led to his scrape with death.

A new intern arrives but Frank refuses to acknowledge him. After dealing with a young woman in a critical condition, Elliott proves he’s got what it takes and restores Frank’s faith in the intern program.

The only person Elliott fails to impress is Bart. Amy is tiring of Bart’s jealousy but it turns out Bart’s first impression of Elliott might be on the money.

Steve continues to support Gabrielle as she struggles to come to terms with her father’s death.

Von helps Adam see things from his mother’s perspective which finally allows him to let her go.
