Having worked with numerous style icons, AFI Award winning costume designer and 10 Years Younger in 10 Days stylist Jane Johnston pays credit where credit is due.

“I love the minx Kate Moss; she is an absolute chameleon who oozes style. Gum boots to glamour gowns. Sexy and fresh with just a hint of trouble,” explains Johnson.

She also praises the style of America’s newest first lady Michelle Obama, but says even she can improve her look.

“She is a beautiful and intelligent woman, a great role model and is constantly in the public eye. I would bring out her best features, modernize her look and give her a personal style,” says Johnston of her secret desire to makeover Obama.

Knowledge and appreciation of body type and dressing in styles and colours that flatter - without being a slave to fashion - is the quickest way to a new and younger you says Johnston.

“The most common mistake men and women make is trying to dress like their children. You should never dress for an era you saw the first time round,” warns Johnston.

A highly respected contributor to film, television and magazines, Johnson trained in graphic design with an initial art department focus before making her successful transition to costume design over 20 years ago.

She has steadily increased her portfolio and experience in Australian and international feature films such as Oscar and Lucinda, Stealth and Mission Impossible II. She won the highest accolade in her field, an AFI Award for Best Costume Designer for the feature film Macbeth.

Having worked with directors John Woo, Rob Cohen, Gillian Armstrong and Alex Proyas. Johnston has proven herself as one of Australia’s leading, innovative costume designers.

Locally and internationally, Johnston has dressed actors, models and celebrities including Jamie Foxx, Josh Lucas, Sam Neill, Bryan Brown, Elle Macpherson, Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Newton-John, as well as gaining television credits in series, commercials and on-air presenting.

Johnston says 10 Years in 10 Days will make people think about renovating their image.

“It will show everyone the amazing change that is possible in 10 days. It’s the ‘Who, What and Wear’ guide to winding back the clock.

“We’ll present the information and the know-how. People then have the opportunity to decide for themselves how far they want to take their own transformation.”

Johnston is also a guest lecturer at Australian Film, Television and Radio School where she shares her knowledge about the specialist aspects of costume design.

Teaming up with hair stylist Troy Thompson and grooming expert Will Fennell in 10 Years Younger in 10 Days, Johnston will “take no prisoners” when it comes to any article of acid stone wash.
